Here's what happened in 2016
June 2016. Almaty, Kazakhstan. A dog falls into the Sairan Reservoir and can't get out. The banks are steep concrete. There's no good way down.
A young man sees it and jumps in anyway. Now he's stuck too.
What happens next is the part nobody planned. A stranger walking by reaches down to help. Someone grabs that stranger's hand. Someone else grabs theirs. In about thirty seconds, five people who had never met each other are linked in a human chain, pulling a man and a dog back to safety.
The whole thing gets filmed on someone's phone. It goes absolutely everywhere.
Nobody ever found out who those five people were. They never came forward. They just went home.
Fast forward to March 2026. Almaty puts up a bronze statue at the exact spot. A chain of figures, arms linked, one hand extended past the railing so anyone walking by can grab it and become part of the rescue. The statue goes viral all over again.
Nobody knows the rescuers' names. Nobody ever will. $ALMDOG is their monument on the blockchain.
